AlaskanAF Woodworks was founded in Anchorage, Alaska in April 2026. I’m a Marine Corps veteran, a disabled veteran, and an Alaskan Native who grew up around people who build things to last. That shaped how I work. I care about clean lines, tight joinery, and finishes that hold up to real weather and real use.

I work mostly with cedar because it handles the climate here and looks good doing it. Every board gets planed, fitted, and finished by hand. I use my handplane on the edges to tighten the structure and make sure the joints stay solid over time. I build with the idea that the only time I should hear from a customer is when they want to order more. That mindset drives every decision, from the lumber I pick to the way I finish a piece.

The premium planters come from my own experience as a grower. I raise peppers as a hobby, so I build planters for people who actually care about their plants. That means real drainage, real protection, and details most people never think about. I coat the drain holes after drilling, and I add spar urethane where water travels so the finish holds up season after season. It’s the kind of thing you only notice once you understand why it’s there. I don’t advertise it. I just do it because it makes the planter better.

I’m expanding my catalog one project at a time. Railing planters, raised beds, basic planters, premium planters, and custom builds. I like improving designs and figuring out new ones. If something can be built stronger or cleaner, I adjust the process. If a finish can last longer, I test it.

This shop is small, but the work is personal. I build things I’d be proud to put on my own deck or in my own yard. If you want something made with care, built to last, and crafted by someone who actually enjoys the work, that’s what I do.
